You should handle paper only once, and here is how to do it apply the FART method:
File it: place a discard date on papers that will outlive their usefulness and clutter your files;
Act on it: create an action center in your planner to place the information that must be taken action on;
Refer to it: keep a folder handy for each individual you must deal with on a regular basis, so when they appear you can handle all matters with them at the same time;
Toss it: sort though your papers and ask yourself, "do I really need this?" and if you have not used it or the information in the last six months, you probably don't need it. Get rid of it, NOW!
